Lloyd's becomes Brexit Ambition partner
Friday 20th January 2017
Lloyd's of London, the world's specialist insurance and reinsurance market, has become a partner for COBCOE's Brexit Ambition initiative. The other Brexit Ambition partner is Hogan Lovells, the global law firm.
Lloyd's will be supporting our work as we take a practical and pragmatic business approach to Brexit, driven by COBCOE members – British chambers of commerce and business associations across Europe. The aim of the project, which is currently in the research phase, is to produce a unique analysis of UK-European business relationships from within the EU, and the potential impact of different Brexit scenarios. The reports will be of use to a wide range of stakeholders as Brexit negotiations draw near.
Benno Reischel, Head of Europe at Lloyd's. said: "Lloyd's has a long and fruitful relationship with European markets and we want that to continue long after the UK has exited the European Union. So we support COBCOE's initiative to maintain close relationships between the financial services industries across Europe and the UK.
"We know that clients who do business in London want to be able to access the services of Europe, and regardless of Brexit, they will expect that ease of business to continue, and it is not just one way. The expertise available in London attracts business from all over the European Union as well, so it is important that we can all continue to conduct our business seamlessly to our mutual benefit."
David Thomas, Executive Chairman of COBCOE, said: "We are extremely pleased that Lloyd's is supporting this important work. Lloyd's bring a unique perspective and valuable resources to the project.
"Being the only membership organisation with multi-nodal European business networks linked to London, COBCOE can directly tap international business through our network of around 40 members, each containing the businesses that create wealth for the EU and the UK."
COBCOE's Brexit Ambition project is currently focused on delivering roundtable discussions across the region to bring key business figures to discuss their current UK-EU business relationships possible future relationships.
The Brexit Ambition survey is still open and is available in eight langauges: take the survey here.
