The Evolving Europe project is giving businesses a voice on how Europe needs to change to improve growth, competitiveness and the ease of doing business. Launched in the summer, the project s now changing gear as the research phase is comes to an end and the debates begin.

The London Debate, 11 November
Confirmed panellists include: Jaqueline Minor, the European Commission’s Head of Representation in the UK; Daniel Franklin, Executive Editor, The Economist (Moderator); Sir Thomas Harris, Chairman, European Services Forum; and Roland Rudd, Chairman, Business for New Europe.

Cyprus-UK Business Forum
There are some spaces left for this high-level event which COBCOE is supporting. Leading figures from the UK-Cyprus business community will present the opportunities as the region develops into an energy hub, while Cyprus itself offers key advantages as an international business centre. HE Yiorgos Lakkotrypis, Minister of Energy, Commerce, Industry & Tourism of the Republic of Cyprus is a confirmed speaker. Attendance is free of charge.

First AIG events cover technology, ethics and business
The first of a series of events to be held by AIG, a COBCOE strategic partner, in cooperation with member chambers took place earlier this month in Scandinavia.
The theme for the first event, co-organised with the British Swedish Chamber in Stockholm, was ‘Risks of the new economic age – how technology is changing the rules for business leaders. The event was moderated by Ravi Mattu, Technology, Media and Telecoms Editor of the Financial Times, with Kathy Avery, Major Loss Adjuster in Financial Lines Claims at AIG, and David Mothander, Google’s Nordic Policy Counsel, on the panel.
‘Doing Ethical Business: How some companies get it right (and wrong)’ was organised with the British Norwegian Chamber in Oslo. Panellists included Adrian Wooldridge, Management Editor and columnist at The Economist, Elisabeth Roscher, Head of EY Business Integrity and Corporate Compliance, and Michael Pryce, Head of Management Liability at AIG EMEA.
British-Portuguese Chamber is new COBCOE member
We are very pleased to welcome the British -Portuguese Chamber of Commerce to the COBCOE network. This chamber, which has around 400 members, was founded in 1911 and has successfully promoted trade between the two nations for over 100 years.
