Window into Europe Summer 2016

COBCOE responds to Brexit

Following the UK EU referendum result, David Thomas MBE, Executive Chairman of COBCOE, has been working with key stakeholders on the COBCOE response to Brexit. This is a new initiative which aims to ensure that the political negotiations do not ignore the business and economic issues, and that negotiations are based upon reality and are able to deliver a successful outcome.

Our unique position

COBCOE is the only Europe-wide British business network and is in a unique position to assist in this endeavour on an effective basis. Our presence in the UK and across the whole of Europe, means that we can help shape the best future trade deals that will benefit not only UK business but Europe-wide business and ensure a safe and stable economic outcome for the global economy.

"COBCOE occupies the only viable position from which to advise on Brexit business negotiations and secure an economically viable future for Britain and Europe" says David Thomas in his open letter to the press.  Our network of British chambers of commerce and business associations located throughout Europe represents around 8,000 businesses.

The COBCOE Brexit Response Initiative includes:

·   A new task force headed by Paul Slevin, UK Delegate of the Franco-British Chamber of Commerce & Industry and lead Practitioner of Exedra Associates

·   Media – David Thomas interviewed on BBC Radio Today Programme

·   Research into how different sectors and supply networks across Europe are affected by Brexit
